Kasho Gyoyen

Jouzankei / Hokkaido

BLJ Tips & Insights
Japan has twenty-three seasons, and as a nation, its relationship to time was predicated on the lunar cycle, only adopting the Western way of telling time in the late nineteenth century. Kasho Gyoen respects these ties to nature through time and season, and by doing so brings guests closer than ever to the natural rhythms of nature. The hotel, with over 10,000 square meters of ground, is located in Shikotsu-Toya National Park, a verdant, primeval forest that exemplifies the forces of nature revered by Japanese. The centerpieces of the property include our gardens, legacy passed on through generations, magnificaent and ancient trees, and a great pond frequented by local and migratory birds. By immersing oneself in these unspoilt landscapes, the magic of Hokkaido is experienced immediately with long lasting effects.
