Newly opened in spring 2020,The Hotel Seiryu Kyoto Kiyomizu is located hillside of Higashiyama in walking proximity from Kiyomizu Temple. Unique characteristics of the building located on a hillside of Higashiya, is in its vast view of Yasaka Pagoda and panorama of Kyoto’s skyline. Seiryu draws its name from azure dragon - an auspicious mythological creature believed to protect the Higashiyama area. In feng shui, is also one of the four divine guardians said to be able to change fortunes for the better and bring good luck, and to attract economic fortune, riches, and success. The building of Seiryu was converted from a historic schoolhouse that opened in 1869, and was then relocated into the hotel compound and newly constructed for academic purpose in 1933. 48 rooms with simple and modern design that hints at the building’s history are equipped with spacious bathrooms, comfortable beds, and unique views. Combination of Japanese and Western aesthetics has been preserved, encapsulating the taste of its traditional design in a modern comfort.
