BLJ Tips & Insights

Hakuchōzan, Japanese for “Swan Mountain”, was named after the fairytale Neuschwanstein or “New Swan” Castle in Bavaria where the owners of the property were engaged to be married. Flushed with love, the couple adopted the symbol of the swan, a literary metaphor for grace, beauty and enduring love, into their vision for the property.

Hakuchōzan was conceived out of a love for family, and the desire to create a destination where multiple generations of loved ones could build lifelong memories under one roof. Built for their aging parents, five children and extended family, the chalet was designed with communal spaces and private nooks where families could both socialize together and spend quiet time apart.
